Trudy MacNeil – Health Promotion Coordinator

Abegweit First Nation’s Health Promotion Coordinator provides nutrition support to all other programs of Abegweit, is involved in many committees and working groups to advocate for services for Abegweit community members and also works to secure additional funding sources for Abegweit Wellness Center.

The Health Promotion Coordinator works closely with the Community Health Nurse to do clinics and home visits, provides diabetes education for groups, families and individuals, supports the NAADAP program by providing nutrition and wellness information and resources, supports the Maternal Child Health Program by working closely with families who could benefit from nutrition information and also works to support the Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program by providing the nutrition education component of prenatal classes as well as dietary and breastfeeding support to pregnant moms in Abegweit First Nation communities.
